At Vernon Chapel AME Church, we believe the Church is strongest when every generation walks together in love, understanding, and purpose. From our seasoned elders who have faithfully carried the torch for decades, to young adults discovering their path, to youth learning who they are in Christ — each generation has something valuable to give.
In today’s world, it can sometimes feel like generations are growing further apart. Different experiences, technology, communication styles, and life challenges can create misunderstandings. But the beauty of the church is that God never intended for us to grow alone. Scripture reminds us that wisdom and strength are both needed in the body of Christ. Older generations carry testimony, perseverance, and spiritual insight, while younger generations bring fresh ideas, energy, creativity, and passion for reaching the future.
At Vernon Chapel, we are committed to creating a place where every voice matters and every generation feels seen, heard, and valued. We want our youth to know they belong here now — not just in the future. We want young adults to feel supported as they navigate careers, family, faith, and purpose. We also honor our elders whose prayers, sacrifices, and guidance continue to shape our church family.
This season, we encourage intentional connection:
Listen to one another with patience and grace.
Share stories, testimonies, and experiences.
Worship together across generations.
Mentor, encourage, and pray for one another.
Create opportunities for fellowship beyond Sunday morning.
When generations unite, the church becomes more than a building — it becomes family.
Whether you are visiting for the first time, returning to church, or searching for a place to grow spiritually, Vernon Chapel welcomes you with open hearts. Together, we can build a ministry where tradition and vision meet, where wisdom and innovation work hand in hand, and where every generation grows stronger together through Christ.
“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity.” — Psalm 133:1
